"It is the unexpected that is the most difficult. A sudden diagnosis that changes your life. The loss of
a job. A surprise pregnancy when you thought you were done having children. Whether the news is good or bad, facing dramatic change quickly is never an easy spiritual assignment. It requires a sense of balance, an ability to be strong but flexible. Thankfully, the support of the Spirit is like that: strong but able to bend, able to adjust to radical shifts in reality. The Spirit is with us in every moment, especially the ones we did not see coming. Faith is a rock not because it never changes, but
because life never stays the same." ~ The Rt. Rev'd Steven Charleston

Faith means that we are certain of the things we hope for, convinced of the thing we do not see.
It was because of faith that the men of old time had their record attested. It is by faith
that we understand that the world was fashioned by the word of God,
so that what is seen came into being out of what is unseen.
Hebrews 11:1-3

To the writer to the Hebrews faith is absolutely certain that what it believes is true and that what it expects will come. It is not the hope which looks forward with wistful longing; it is the hope which looks forward with utter conviction. In the early days of persecution they brought a humble Christian before the judges. He told them that nothing they could do could shake him because he believed
that, if he was true to God, God would be true to him. "Do you really think," asked the judge,
"that the like of you will go to God and his glory?" "I do not think," said the man, "I know."
(William Barclay's Commentary on The Book of Hebrews)

“Faith never knows where it is being led,

but it loves and knows the One who is leading."

Oswald Chambers

“The crucial issue in advancing the kingdom of God
is not the quantity of our faith, but the power of God.”
John Piper
