AUTUMN ~ MYSTICAL ~ BEAUTIFUL ~ MAJESTIC
This time of the year it's the same great story,
When all the trees are dressed in their glory.
Before the leaves die and fall to the ground,
They're dressed in their bright Autumn gowns.
So, this time of the year we pause to give thanks,
For fields and forests, for lakes, even river banks.
The colours of reds, yellows, greens and browns,
Leaves dance in the breeze in their Autumn gowns
I am reminded of the words of one Meister Eckhart,
Whose words of wisdom to you I now seek to impart,
"If the only prayer you ever say is thanks, that will be enough."
You'll agree, I hope, his words of wisdom are really good stuff!
I went for my usual Saturday morning 10k "canal" run,
It was grey and overcast with no hint of the rising sun.
But wow! those bright red leaves on the Sumac Trees,
Like some great mystical flag just a-blowing in the breeze.
Every corner I turned, there it was, blood red Sumac leaves,
And it made me think of dear friends who I know now grieve.
Life's hard, the challenges are many and many are in sorrow,
But none of us, my friends, are ever promised tomorrow.
It caused me to recall how Jesus' blood on the Cross was shed
For God so loved the world! Jesus crucified, suffered, was dead.
Jesus rose from the grave, having defeated that enemy, death,
So I give thanks and praise to Jesus with each and every breath.
As National Thanksgiving on Monday, October 14th arrives,
Give thanks to God, celebrating life and that you're fully alive.
The mark of Christian is to be able to give thanks for all things
For both the joy and the sorrow, Christ's praises able to sing.

“Truly, it is in the darkness that one finds the light, so when we are in sorrow, then this light is nearest of all to us.”
~ Meister Eckhart ~
Eckhart von Hochheim OP, commonly known as Meister (master) Eckhart or simply Eckhart, was a German theologian, philosopher and mystic whose words speak to comfort my mind with good thoughts, fill my heart with hope, and nourish my hungry soul.
“Some people want to see God with their eyes as they see a cow, and to love Him as they love a cow - for the milk and cheese and profit it brings them. This is how it is with people who love God for the sake of outward wealth or inward comfort. They do not rightly love God, when they love Him for their own advantage. ”
